easiest way to tell the "clone" in question is to look at the door hinges and hood hinges etc..Rick Dyer had them all cadium plated when he built the car back in 1990. I have not seen any pics of this cars hinges but last i saw the clone they were still plated. As i recall Rick found the car in either GA or WV in a junkyard and noticed the burnished brown paint and said he wondered if it could have been my Dads RS COPO, it turned out to be a COPO but not an RS. He bought the car or rather what was left of it as it was rotted beyond restoration and rebodied it and showed it as a COPO but not a numbers matching car. He openly admitted to all that it was a rebodied car and not original but i as understand it was later sold as an original. Its a real shame that out of 500 built 2000 survived "so to speak" but i guess its the nature of the beast when big bucks are being spent on these rare cars.I know the clone car well as i had helped Rick put on the final touches when he finished building it and had we have known then the dishonesty that would become of this car im sure he would have done a few things different. My Dad had a 69 COPO RS in burnished brown back in 1969 that he purchased through a friend that worked for GM, they bought it from Merolis Chevrolet in East Detroit Michigan. We found one of the 2 photos that my dad recalls having of the car and unfortunatly it does not tell much other than the color etc..The car was sold in roseville michigan in 1972 and we have been unable to obtain any info on the car since. The friend that my dad bought the car with said a guy called him several years back and claimed to have the car minus the engine, trans and front clip but he didnt want to be bothered with the guy so he kinda blew it off.If anyone knows of this car or if you think you know someone who may have it please feel free to email me as any info would be most appreciated

Azmoom67.....Can we be clear that what he did was take a trim tag from a car in a wrecking yard and put it on another body ? When he switched the trim tag did he also use the vin tag off the junk car ? Were the hidden vins altered on this car ?
