First '69 model L-88's were built around early Sept 1968. You have one of the earliest casting dates known. The L-88's in the 1968 model year did not use these heads, as a matter of fact early '69 model L-88's did not use these heads, until after April 1969. Yes, the ZL-1 Corvettes (that are documented as original) have build dates after June 1969. Yes, these heads were installed in late 1968, they were installed on the earliest ZL-1 Camaros that were delivered to Fred Gibb Chevrolet on Dec 31st, 1968.

thanks rat...you say these are one of the earliest dates known...just out of curiosity, do you know of any earlier...and if so, what date?? does anyone know if any of the very early ZL-1 cars still have the original motor and/or heads??? and what are the dates?? It would be interesting to know if these fit into production date time frame or prior...

BTW...do you think if I stamped "GIBB" on them that I could sell them on Ebay as "formerly owned by" or better yet "from ZL-1 number 1" ????

I have looked at many '074 heads and have not seen any that had dates earlier than your 07-17-68 casting. The august dated head is usually as early as I've ever come across.
You'll have to ask the Camaro crowd about the ZL-1 cars that have original drivetrains.
You probably could pull off such a stunt, however I wouldn't want to deal with any possible repercussions!

I was joking about stamping the heads...in response to the "jenkins" stamped heads that sold for 8300 on Ebay recently...
