Re: Why men should not write advice columns
On the contrary, men SHOULD write advice columns, and I don't mean men like Doctor Phil, I mean REAL men. The whole post-feminist male thing is really sad. We made the typical over-correction. We American men gave up our male dominance in society and the home (okay, maybe not all of you did) just to keep the peace with our wives and lo and behold, our women took that little bit of rope we gave them and RAN LIKE H*LL!!! Turn on any TV show today and the men (husbands and boyfriends) are often stupid dolts who could not function without their women nearby to save them. "All in the Family" could not survive on today's TV schedule. Okay, so if men are such stupid dolts then how come their women couldn't wait to be married to them? If men are so stupid, why are women so rabid to get married to one? HA! That one always falls flat with the women I ask. Ask one of these women why she married her "stupid" husband and watch the daggers fly out of her eyes right at you. Watch "King of Queens" or "Everyone Loves Raymond." How come those women couldn't wait to hear "I now pronounce you husband and wife."
No, not all women are that way. BUT NOT ALL OF THEIR MEN ARE STUPID EITHER.
Try a "Father Knows Best" type of TV drama today and watch the hell-fury develop instantly. "Leave it to Beaver" in today's world would be a single, never-married super-brainy mother, Ms./Miss Cleaver, and her two super-brainy daughters. (Yeah, I guess we have to change the name of the show.) ANYWAY, that's what the show would have to be today. "Two and a half Men" is about the only TV show today with men in positions of power--well, Charlie Sheen's character anyway and perhaps the kid--but then they dumb them down too so as to not piss off the female viewing demographic.
No wonder Cheryl Crow wrote a song about Steve McQueen and Ford brought back his ghost to sell Mustangs a few years ago. Women killed the Steve McQueen style of manhood and now they want it back I guess. Wouldn't it be nice if we could swing (push) the men vs. women pendulum back to the center? Closer to the center? Yeah, I know honey, "go to my room and don't come out 'til you say so."
