While racing yesterday I got a call from Lynn Yenko, who was in California visiting her mother Hope, who had been dealing with some health issues. Glad to report Hope is on the mend and doing well.
Those of you who attended SCR#1 you will remember spending time with Hope, who was gracious enough to fly in from her home in California to spend the weekend with us. Besides a very charming woman, she shared many “Yenko” stories with us. During the auction of Yenko memorabilia, Hope provided interesting insight regarding many of the items being sold. Hope was curious if we were still holding our annual reunion, and when I told her we were getting ready for SCR15, she commented, has it been that long? We went on to reminisce about the first SCR, as well as talk about what all has taken place since then within our families (grandkids), as well as with the Yenko brand. As she was then, she is still amazed, that after all of these years, folks are still interested in Yenko. As we ended our conversation, she told me to say Hello to her extended Yenko family for her. ![]() Left to right: the late Donna Mae Mims, the late Ed Lowther and Hope Yenko.
