See I run my moms cabinetry business. My father started it in 1990, brother ran it till 2012 when he passed. So I have come in from machining to do this. My brother bought a nice, top-of-the-line 2010 Ram 1500. It now has 285,000 KM on it and showing some rust here in SW ontario. So mom say, "maybe time to look at a new truck". Well couple of friends just got new trucks this year and there between 67-84,000.00 CND $$$. Now it's not just the $$$, but this truck does have sentimental value to me. It was my late brothers. So I'm thinking of a '66 Chevy Sb (yr I was born) or 69-72 Chevy Sb, or 78/79 Lil Red Express. Use them as my "company" driver in the summer. Not sure about the USA, but here in Canada, I can put it in the company name and no matter what, in 5 years the car is worth ZERO $$$ to the government. So basically I can get a free car every 5 years which is also a way to get tax-free $$$ out of the company. I spoke to our accountant and he told me how it goes. My dad always had the company buy new cars for him and mom, and 3/4 years later he bought them and sold them privately. Mom Audi was the last one 2 years ago. It was just over 80K new and 4 years later, dad had to write the cheque for 10K, market value was in the 40's. So I will keep the 2010 Ram, and look for a cool truck I like and let the company pay for it. I see it as a win-win.
