Around 2002 my father in-law took me to an old tire shop in Edina, MO to get a tire fixed for one of his tractors on a boring Saturday morning. I had an old Yenko shirt on so the ole boy at the tire shop ask me what I had for old cars. After a few minutes of talking to him he says you better come over to my place and check out these rare heads I have that you might be interested in. I was skeptical I'd find anything interesting in the middle of nowhere but we go over to his garage after he fixes the tire and the guy had a matching set of 1969 L89 aluminum heads and a 840 intake he'd been sitting on for years that had supposedly came off a 69 Corvette. Everything looked to be in great shape and nothing had been welded on so I ended up buying everything he had for a grand. I'd been dreaming of having a set of L89 heads since I saw my first pair at Super Chevy in Indy back in 1987 so I was thrilled to get them. My wife wasn't thrilled when she found out how much I'd spent on parts I had no real use for but she thought I was a genius a couple years later when I sold them on ebay for $1700 after I got tired of moving them around the basement once we started having kids and decided to finish the basement.
