Default Block Stamping

Just found an original 396/375 hp block one day off of my original motor for my 69 L78 Camaro. Check out the VIN stamping. Looks like the line worker mis-stamped then re-stamped the VIN. This one is out of a 69 Nova with last 6 digits of 487960. I thought the line workers were stamping the VIN down by the oil filter. It must have been a pain to remove the alternator every time.

Do you think it was possible they used a special holder with a long shank to reach behind the alternator? Interesting.

I wonder if this is out of any members car?

Paul
