[ QUOTE ]
nascar has peaked in popularity. the younger generation has absolutely no interest in this crap. why no interest? because all the drivers are robots. now they have to dig up fossils like this guy to keep the older faithful fans from switching the channel to golf, which is about as exciting as a NASCAR race. [/ QUOTE ] NASCAR (and NHRA, etc.) has gotten so corporate that people are getting turned-off. All the logo placement and the "I gotta' thank Home Depot, Pizza Hut, UPS, Mrs. Butterworth's," crap makes them all sound the same. I watch "Back in the Day" with Dale Jr. and it's fun to see real men--racing cars you can identify--in T-shirts and smoking Winstons and getting dirty. And another thing: Today everything is "awesome." "My car was awesome, my crew was just awesome, and I gotta's thank my awesome wife--she's just so awesome." Thank God for the MUTE button. |
