I remember an article in one of those late 50's pocket size Hot-Rod mags where they were making a small bubble canopy for a Bonneville type car..
They made a wooden buck w/ the desired shape, put the material on top and slipped the whole thing into the local Pizza place oven and heated it just enough to take on the shape.. It worked beautifully and was crystal clear!.  ~ Pete
