Yeah no Vega, and no Biscayne! That's pretty neat though. I really like seeing the buildings in color. Are these the actual colors Baldwin and Motion were in 1970? I really wish the artist captured the actual atmosphere of 1970 Motion Performance, with cars (not just conversions, but also regular customer cars) in progress parked outside and up on the lifts. It looks like all the cars are basically from pictures of the few surviving examples of Motion cars out there. Is that LeMans Blue 68 SS passing itself? Looks like the same car is parked in front of the Baldwin building lol. It really is cool, and I'd love to have one, but IMO it doesn't represent what 598 Sunrise was like in its prime.

In regards to the Vega and Spyder querries, I just got this email from Marty.
Hi Chris: A number of guys have questioned why there wasn't a Vega or '74 Spyder, or other cars in the painting. The answer is very simple: The painting is supposed to represent a Saturday in 1969-1970. Since the Vega wasn't introduced until 1971 and the Spyder was much later, including them would've been wrong. I worked with David on the painting, supplied color photography of actual cars and David visited Motion collectors. There was some artistic license as well. The results: An outstanding painting and tribute to Mr. Motion and his Baldwin-Motion and Motion Supercars. Regards, Marty I have to agree, this is a great piece of artwork. Thanks to all those that helped to put it together. ![]() |
