One sure way....8th digit of VIN must be a "9" or no-go.

Does anybody know how many times are was built the Pace Car?

Or have Pace Cars a fixed number of built?

Correct. There was supposed to be 1 per Chevy dealer. I remember going to Bob McDorman's annual swap meet around that time. He had purchased a lot of these cars from other dealers. He had about 30 of them lined up on the lot.
