Goggling the Vin shows the Vin is listed as one documents are available for also this old thread from '02..

When I picked bought my MN motor a year and a half ago, it had 842's on it dated 8/68. I wondered if they were dealer installed or put on at a later date.

This is what it looked like when I first brought it home.
