sounds like they shimmed the trans gears to get it to shift better for racing
probably the Borg Warner trans before the 1963 Muncies earliest Yenko catalog I have is 1964 and it has many parts for SCCA competition or hi po street use Yenko had a special shop to do hi po work and had a chassis dyno in the mid 1960s common today but then it wasn't
