It would have had a muncie. This is what is in my '69 Nova. Fits hurst shifter but looks stock. I don't know if it's 100% correct but looks and fits well.

I was going to buy this prior to my post but wanted to know if it looks correct for a 1969 Nova without a console?
You have this in yours? And you like the looks and fit?
Thanks

It fits nice and looks stock. I am actually changing it out because I want more of a day 2 look but it doesn't hit anywhere on the dash or seat and is comfortable to drive. Here are a couple pictures, not the greatest but hope it helps.

Post Muncie shifter in a Nova..

The Muncie bench seat shifter design is unique to to the Nova...the Chevelle version is similar, but not the same. A Nova with buckets and no console would have the bench seat style shifter. The factory Muncie shifters were notorious for jamming and sloppy performance...they rarely survived long before being replaced with a Hurst unit.

One of the easy fixes is to install a Muncie handle onto the Hurst shifter body...nobody can tell the difference without crawling under the car. It appears the Chevelle version might do the job...as far as I know there is no Nova version available. I have converted the handles before by cutting a Muncie handle off the shifter and welding a Hurst end on it...that is the most accurate way to have it visually correct, while retaining the Hurst performance.

By the way...your Red Nova is a great looking car...red/red is a rare combo..good luck with it.
