Ok here is one of my secrets I have been using since cleaning carbon deposits off of floor boards from rich jets and open headers on the Black RS/Z survivor. AND it is made for removing BAKED ON GREASE.
HD EASY OFF oven cleaner -
FWIW The WEAKER fume free version is useless.

X2 on the EASY OFF HD!

Something with even more toxic fumes that has saved me countless hours on a current cleaning and preservation project, Aluminum Brightener from NAPA. Removes grime like nothing else I've found but doesn't harm factory paint or EDP on underhood metal and firewall blackout. Spray, wipe it off, neutralize with water, and follow with wax.
Also spectacular results on phosphate and zinc stuff (horn relay cover, ash tray) and of course aluminum (alternator, a/c lines).

Yes Dan, the wagon. Not a Musclecar, but if there is interest in my odd-ball long-roof Chevelle I could start a thread on it. - Bill W
