Penske L88 Prototype
Roger Penske is a living legend. A fabulous winning driver, race team owner and businessman.
Penske as a driver was successful winning the 1963 feature race at Nassau driving Grand Sport No. 004. In 1965 another victory at Nassau driving Grand Sport No. 005, defeating a Cobra driven by Ken Miles. He retired from driving in 1965. His first race shop was in my hometown of Newtown Sq. Pa., and his success as a team owner began by winning the GT class at the 1966 24 hours of Daytona. Notice the front nose was missing, but that didn't stop the Penske team from winning... It is just amazing what Roger Penske accomplished at such a young age and how his success continues today, 55 years later. https://www.motortrend.com/features/...penske-tribute

----The original is Kevin McKay's masterpiece restored in blue after the nose got knocked off at the 24hr of Daytona in 1966 . It was in MCACN in 2016 and BG as well for 50th anniversary celebrations. One of 4 66 L88 pure racecar built Corvettes referred to as the 4 Kings. My good friend Scott Freese has the only other known one of the 4. There have been pictures of his on this sight. It's still in its original red color and livery as it was 1st raced at Sebring in 1966.....Bill S

The nose (or what's left of it) is really up in that third photo.

Wasn't there a White and Purple 66 Vette factory M22 big brake car still running around which was IIRC sold new at I believe Alan Green? I recall it being referred to as one of the 1966 L88's. Also a reference to the Hipo 66 M22 cars in an article in late 65 or early 66 something regarding the different cam shaft and also stated gear drive.

There is a white/purple lettering Gordon Wilson Chevrolet car that went through Mecum Monterey a few years ago.
