1968 Yenko - SS Grille Emblem Question

When I restored Dana Hurt's 68 YS8011 Yenko I did a lot of research. My understanding was that Don did not want to promote the SS so he removed all of the SS badging such as the front grille and fender SS emblems. The rear SS gas tank filler cap was blacked out. His car came to me in original paint and I also found where the original SS fender emblems had been sheared off with the pins still stuck in the fenders and then the Yenko emblems applied over the original holes.
