Yeah, looking at the two auctions, and the Seller's attempt to "play dumb", and the handling of this one by BAT, there is definitely more to the story somewhere.

I presume 64-65 Chevelles were not done like Impala SS's because there is no storage compartment in a 64-65 Chevelle console, so you were not gaining anything. And the automatic console would look sort of dorky with no shifter in it, the way it suddenly gets much taller right behind where the shifter would be.
