Joel,
From memory, all your numbers work out. The '69 SS427 used 390 hp engines whereas the Caprices and base Impalas (generally) used the 335 hp version though exceptions have been found and both ways I might add. I personally have a '69 335 hp 427 that was pulled from a '69 SS in 1979 so it can happen. I also have the POP for that car. Your trans and rear numbers also sound correct.

The differences between a '69 standard 427 and an SS427 are very few. Basically emblems which are all easily added and that is why it is so easy to fake a '69. However, with your documentation, that should be a non issue.

If I understood your last question correctly, there were 2455 '69 SS427's built. I know of no honest figures that determine how many of those were auto compared to manual though the automatic was obviously much more common.

Also, check out www.impalass427.com if you haven't already.
Rick

IF BY CHANCE IT IS A CANADIAN CAR, IT SHOULD HAVE "Z24" ON THE COWL TAG DENOTING THE SS427 OPTION. '69 SS427 IMPALA'S ARE PROBALY ONE OF THE EASIEST MUSCLE CARS TO FAKE, PAPER WORK IS VERY IMPORTANT WITH THESE CARS.

Hi Guys. Thanks for the info. Mr 70-Larry Roesch Aug 24th
Chevy show, are you going? Rick, are you going to Oshkosh Fly in? Thanks for the help. I think I am going to get this car as I like TH400 equipped SS cars. (Not to good with a 4-speed, 1985
destroyed a M-22 clutch, throwout bearing, and 1st gear in a 1970 LS-5 Chevelle, I know my limitations). I knew a 69 SS427 was rare, but didn't know it was rarer than a 69 Camaro L-78. I will send pictures to all interested parties when I get the car.........Joel

Joel,
I am not attending Oskosh as my car shows have my time pretty booked up. It is unfortunate since everytime I go I get a ride in a some type of warbird. The Tuskegee P51C is done and flying and likely will be there however.

Once again, Chevrolet did not keep descript enough figures on applications and only has a breakdown on the number of 425 hp engines installed in full size Chevrolets including Biscayne and Bel Airs. I have only ever documented 3 427/425 hp '69 SS427 converts, hardtops are a little more common. Those are rare to say the least.

DAN, A LAURENTIAN IS A CANADIAN PONTIAC. THEY ARE BASICALLY FULLSIZE CHEVS WITH PONTIAC BODYPANELS AND INTERIOR. THE DRIVETRAINS, FRAME, FLOOR-PANS & COWL ARE ALL CHEVROLET.

It won't open any longer but picture 5 is of just such a car. This one has a 427 automatic, buckets, console the whole works but based on a Pontiac body style.
