I believe that Dodge will flood the market with the 425hp Hemi, much like they did with the smaller HP Hemi in the Trucks when they were introduced. Once they have their hooks in ya, they will bring a more powerful Hemi into the picture. ----smart marketing to keep the customer coming back to spend more $$$$$. -- Just like the computer companies have been doing to the market - gradual increases in speed and memory retention to keep you buying.

Let's hope that when Dodge has to compromise the design to get it built they don't make it a four-door like the Charger. I think they really blew it when they had to do the Charger with four doors. "Charger" and "four doors" just don't compute.

Rumors about the 392 CI / 510 HP Hemi race engine as a future option for the Chally! read more....

"There are rumors that the new 392 Hemi crate engine, designed for racing, will go along with the new Dodge Challenger body. The 392 is apparently a racing-only engine in current form, not a production design, but a lower-power version may well be made for production and appear in the Challenger. The Challenger concept car to be shown at NAIAS (Detroit, January 2006; the Camaro will also be shown) uses, not surprisingly, the SRT-8 6.1 liter engine — but, unlike any current production LX car, it also has a six-speed manual gearbox. (Automobile suggested that the 510 horsepower 6.4 liter 392 Hemi might be used.) There are issues with the 392 - most notably the question of what untrained drivers will do with that much power. A fairly large number of Vipers left this world unexpectedly."

Can you imagine how cool that would look in a convertible?

Sam do you have the rest of the article?

I see in the article there is a question as to where it would be built? I drove by the Belevidere, Il assembly plant this week. The pair of "showpiece" Neons guarding the main entrance like they have had for several years are gone. In their place are 2 big blue cubes with question marks on them. I should have taken a picture.

"Draggy"? That horse whinny is classic! You can tell a Mopar is startin' a country mile away. That sound still echoes in my brain from when I was a little kid.
