This is why I selected "ONE LAST RACE" as the title of the book that I've slowly been writing, they are almost all gone now!
I've contacted every surviving name on the list of 43 that I could find. I believe the actual total was six. One of the guys had me read the names of the other Assignees to him in hopes he could help me find his old friends... In every case, except maybe 3 or 4, I was told they had passed away. The other 3 or 4 he had no idea what happened to them.
When I checked the Festival Program from 1967, there were pictures of the people who received the replicas....Phil!!
most of them were old timers in 1967 !!!!!!!!!!! Add 40 years and the race against time is almost lost!
