Great story; just read through the whole thing. I recently lived on Hawaii for two years and finding a musclecar was pretty tough. When you did find something it was usually rusted to h*ll and overpriced, too. My "island car" was a '67 Dodge Dart GT convt - rusty but a good 20 footer. I also found a '68 Firebird with a 427 and a 4 sp that I beat on for a few weeks before I sold it (heading back to mainland and could only ship one car back for free). Wish I would've heard about this car, but sounds like it would've been out of my price range...
