Bob,
You don't have to drop the tank to see if it has a tank Sheet. Just a few screws to remove the gas cap ring and then the rubber seal.

Use a flash light and you will be able to see if its there. Definitely worth the few minutes of work required.

Good Luck

Hey Dave Rifkin, that was Bob's first post on this site and I don't think he displayed an attitude at all. He registered just yesterday just to defend himself from you. Hell, he didn't even advertise his car on this site or ask for any help for documentation. I don't think he was making a "big deal" at all about the Berger connection. Just mentioning it. And you doubt the car because it's 15 minutes from you and you've never seen it? You're the one that needs to lighten up. Unless you're a potential buyer, and I don't think you are, that Berger paperwork is none of your business. Look at the green DANA '68 Camaro that Steve Sandlin brought over from Hawaii. That DANA paperwork was only displayed on this site for a few hours before it was decided in the best interest to avoid future bogus duplicates, to remove the paperwork photos. As far as Corvette tank stickers go, they're cool and all, and I've removed several myself, but I don't think the selling dealer is typed on there. I think you owe Bob an apology.

Defend himself from me? Where in any of my posts did I attack him or his car? I simply stated that I had never seen his car and I live very near Manahawkin. Not that it means anything, I was more surprised that I had never seen it since I try to keep my eye out for any nice cars in my area. If he doesn't drive the car that much maybe that would account for why I never saw it; no big deal.
Regarding my reference to the paperwork; now where in my post did I question the authenticity of the car. I simply stated that if I was selling that car and wanted to stress that it came from, or was modified by Berger, I would have shown an example of the paperwork. If the seller chooses not to do that for fear that someone might try to copy it or whatever again that's his decision.
The fact that Bob felt the need to register on the site to defend himself from my post is a little strange I certainly meant no offense and really don't understand what he felt he needed to defend himself from.
As far as my offering an apology for making the statements I made in my original, or even my follow up post; I don't think an apology is warranted but, if it will make everyone happy I am sorry that you took offense to my posts Bob. Good luck with the sale of your car.

First of all, I would like to thank markjohnson. He gets it Dave Rifkin doesn't. The only reason I posted on this site is because I actually had two potential buyers who told me about the site and about the comments made and they questioned if this car even existed becasue of comments made here. I am an avid collector with 19 cars in my collection. I myself, when I buy a car, don't rely on information posted on a site (and by the way, I did not post on this site). I personally contact the seller and review whatever documents he has and personally look at the car. Even if you post documents, some people believe they're not real anyhow and some make copies to scam people. I do however find it odd that people contacted this site to find out about the car and not contact me through the site I had it listed on. Nevertheless, if Dave was an avid car enthusiast, he would've known of the Boy Scout car show for Troop 21 I put on every year to raise money for their trips. All of my cars where there in a row with "Do Not Judge" stickers on them, including this vette. We had over 150 cars at the show and hundreds of spectators. This is a pretty decent show for a small local show. This show was probably less than 5 miles from Dave's house, and everybody who had cars in the few small towns surrounding had them there. I do not have any hard feelings toward Dave but the fact is his comments were probably misconstrued by possible buyers and hurtful to me. I do believe that if the shoe was on the other foot, he would probably feel the same way.

Actually, I don't have any myself, but I believe the troop might have some. If you want some pics, I'll ask the scoutmaster if he's got any and forward them to you.
Thanks, stefano, about the tank sticker. Actually, a little history on this car. I haven't had time to look at the sticker yet. The owner before me had this car just sitting in a pole barn for many years, unused. Calipers were frozen, brake fluid was like mollases, center carb was shot, and since it's an automatic tri-power, the center carb is hard to come by. Luckily I searched one down from Chicago Corvette. Interior needed a change, carpet had to be changed, there was just alot of little issues from sitting that had to be corrected. I figured the tank sticker would still be there if I got around to it, and there were just more important things to get together on the car. The Berger Chevrolet deal is pretty cool. I personally did not believe it to be a fraud, especially with the work orders from Berger that were given to me by the previous owner. But at the end of the day, this is just a pretty cool car. Its a 427, numbers matching, automatic. Casting codes on the engine are all correct. It has two tops, white conv. and blck hard top. And I do believe there were only 150 or so of these made in '69. The unfortunate part is that Berger keeps no records of the cars they do, or so they're telling me. Right now, the car is in the paintshop getting the nose redone, there were some spider cracks. since this was the original color, but not the original paint I thought this wouldn't be an issue. I will try to post pictures of this car and my other cars and I do appreciate any help anyone can give on some insight on this car. Thanks.
