I think you are right. At the SCR-Even with the guard in the lot I slept better knowing the trailer was a hard target when I put the big stick device on my trailer wheel. The cheaper trailer devices can actually damage your trailer and are far easier to defeat.
For example I checked out the Trailer Keeper first. It is cheaper than the Big Stick, but in the end it is more time consuming to set up each time and it will cause damage to your trailer equipment, as will most other wheel locks on the market. It is a pain in the butt too. With Trailer Keeper -A lug nut has to be removed every time it is set up or taken down to prevent the wheel from going out of balance if their "lug latch" is left on by accident in transit, and if you forget to remove it Trailer Keeper can come in contact with the trailer fender and tear it up when you try to move it. In addition Trailer Keeper is attached to only one lug pin. Big stick is attached to all 5 and has an armored housing to protect the lugs. The Big Stick will ride outside of the fender rim if you forget to remove it (I already did BTW.. ![]() IMO... You get what you pay for. ![]() |

I realize this is an OPEN trailer that was stolen, but this should underscore more then ever why NOT to paint any kind of logo or advertise what's inside ones CLOSED trailer.
I've contacted some Chevelle parts hounds in this area to see if any "newly discovered" LS-6,70 Chevelle or A-body parts come through the pipeline. |

These guys have done this before and are probably following us (car people) around. My guess they know collector cars well and are members on many car sites. The best we can do for now is to make yourself a univiting target. I always would use numerous locks in plain veiw and no advertising of what's inside. [/ QUOTE ] Plain trailer or not; these guys are at venues where prized, high dollar cars are present. They probably watch you load and know EXACTLY what is in each trailer.

------You could also say that an unadorned (by any artwork) trailer would give you less to describe to the police if the worst did happen. I would, however, stop short of announcing exactly what was inside as some guys have done.........Bill S

The thiefs have been doing this at the bike gigs like Bike Week ans Sturgis for years. Many beleive it is the bike gangs that come to enjoy the gig and steal some bikes. They usually have a wharehouse they are using or a rig parked somewhere waiting to accept the stolen bikes. I know someone who got to see the survalence video of her bike getting ridden out of the hotels "secure" parking at the Love Ride in Los Angeles. These thiefs are usually well organized so that car and trailer were probably pulled into a building inside of 10 min of being stolen and loaded into another truck .That is why they are so bold , they have a plan. You have to be super careful these days .This absolutley sucks !

Unfortunitly, nothing has been found. There has been a few leads from people in the vicinity that are being checked. Tony and Todd wanted me to thank everyone for the calls with info. They also can not believe that everything vanished so quick. Tony has promised $25,000 CASH for the return intact of the cars/truck/ trailer no questions asked or $10,000 for information that leads to arrest . Call Tony at 815-955-9023 or Todd 815-207-545.
Once again,I am posting as a friend and to let know what happened. Any questions or info call them. |

Words are great in the description but this group here could keep an eye out if truck/trailer/cars are seen. [/ QUOTE ] Good call...I always check out truck & trailer combos when I see 'em on the road, just as a passing interest...and I'd say most other car guys do as well. |

I think that I have some pics of my old ls6 somewhere and can post them if need be.If it's my old car it's a very nice fathom blue, white stripe car, black bench seat.Of course it may be another car that Todd also has,but it sounds like my old car that I sold to him.I have not gotten in touch with him yet to see if in fact it was my old car.

The more outrageous the trailer the better... PAINT SOMETHING LARGE ON THE ROOF!!!! That way the police can see it from the AIR!!!!
This is why Levi's Painted their trailers with Stage Coaches and the top of the trailer with a Big Red Levis Logo...
