1966 15x7 Torq Thrust D Wheels
Rare original set of 15x7 Torq Thrust D wheels, 4 3/4" pattern, 1966 vintage. I was told they were dealer installed on a 1966 Corvette. They should be restored - there are some nicks/scratches on the polished lip surfaces, and a small area of one wheel lip has some pitting corrosion that may come out with a proper polishing(see 5th picture). I am guessing these would be easy to restore to show condition. Please email or PM with questions. $1600 + shipping.
Thanks sYc! Re: 1966 15x7 Torq Thrust D Wheels
I am probably wrong, but I thought all the early ones the spoke was sharp and hard up to the blow, not curved in I have a early set of 15'S and quite different

Hi, these are the 'D' spokes designed to clear disc brake calipers. The straight spoke wheels that you describe are more common.

They sure look like the wheels that the original owner put on my '69 copo car as soon as it was delivered. I've cropped the picture taken in June of 1969 (attached). It's a little grainy. You're tempting me Tony!

I didn't think the "D"s were introduced until late 1968?
You definitely need "D"s on a Disc Brake Vette. There should be a date on the inside of the Rim? |

Re: 1966 15x7 Torq Thrust D Wheels
I have another picture that shows clearly the concave area where the spokes meet the rim - is that what you mean by "curved" vs "straight"?

Re: 1966 15x7 Torq Thrust D Wheels
Did some research into "D" wheels Tony has a nice set of wheels and a good price for originals. "quote"
The original Torq-Thrust "D" was released around 1965, and was configured to provide disc brake caliper clearance on then-current Corvettes. The hub of the wheel was moved outward a half-inch, and the spokes curved inward at the ends. The original aluminum Torq-Thrust "D" was only produced in 15 by 6 and 15 by 7. I will post link in lounge for reading pleasure will probably sum up alot of questions on vintage wheels. Good luck with the sale Tony
