Re: ZL2 hoods
Thanks William, that clears up a question I've had for awhile.
Black69, I think you have it backwards. The air cleaner base should be smooth on the bottom. It's the late production and post 1969 NOS bases that have the ridge. I think the coil bracket is unique, as it angles the coil more to clear the air cleaner. The ZL2 was an available option on all Z/28 and SS around Jan 1, 1969. There are probably more ZL2 hoods in Tennessee today, than were original equipment to the whole US back then. |

Re: ZL2 hoods
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I didn't have to be a big block to get the ZL2 option. [/ QUOTE ] correct me if I am wrong, but the only small block cars with the ZL2 hood were the a Z-28 or a pacecar...right?? [/ QUOTE ] not exactly, any SS could get one, big block or small block they were OPTIONAL on all SS & Z28's, EXCEPT Z10 & Z11 where they were required options (uhh, that sounds weird). As mentioned they were standard with the COPO package ... so, COPO, Z28 & SS cars were available to have one, as stated they probably have sold more hoods than the total production of 69 Camaros ...
