I was thrilled to get a mini-bike when I was 8. I would have thought I died and went to heaven for something like that. Hope the boy has a clue how fortunate he is. Should make for some great memories, excellent bonding experience for the family.

Nope - no Gobi Beige paint or Deuce stripes, the paint job on this car is beautiful!! It's a metallic burgundy, with neat orangey strobe squares on the sides. The top also has some squares of lighter burgundy. These squares on the sides and top have a really neat metallic crystalized effect, they apparently used saran wrap on the the squares when the paint was still wet - then clear coated the whole body. The frame is powder coated, it too is very nice and won't be changed. We were just discussing how reshoot the name area and put Benjamin's name on there.
Jeff Morocco is right, any free time I thought I had will be gone. I just spent most of today getting acquainted with the car, and moved the pedals up. We plan to get some seat time next Sunday afternoon - should be a blast!!

Well! We hit TnT this past Friday night: 12.69 @ 50+ mph!!! We pulled the weight bar out of the truck (that we've been hoping to need at some point!), and threw 25 #'s on it. The general ratio for a 12.90 Jr is 10 #'s = .10 et.
Got another run in, 12.79 at 50+ mph! The 25 pounds slowed it about a tenth, primarily in the 60 foot. We are going to leave it alone, as we feel the 64 degree temp with 72% RH will change for Sunday - which is supposed to be in the low 90's. We think the weather will slow us down to the 12.90+ range. This is a huge relief, Benjamin is all smiles - that's what its all about! Fast forward to Sunday morning: Right out of the box at 9:30am our first run was a 12.909 at 49.9mph! Benjamin had a nice reaction time of .039. Temp was 75F, 45%RH, we left at 3400 rpm. This was a picture perfect run, I'm not sure you can tune <.009> out of a 12.90 combo. Second run was at 11:15am, and we slowed a bit to 13.166 at 49.5mph, so we took off the 25#'s. First round at 1:02pm we dialed a 12.90 and it really picked up going a 12.64 at 51.2mph - not sure why, but it might like the heat as it was ~ 87F and ~50%RH. Also, the starting line was not nearly as tacky (that means less resistance, and actually will speed up the car). We lost the round, but it was a good day, it felt great to run a spot on 12.909. Looking forward to the next time out. I guess we'll put a fork in that old engine!

Atta boy, Benjamin! And to his crew chief!
Quick question: do you have a handheld weather station yet? NOAA shows that the High pressure front that had been hanging over your head slid further down right on top of you, going from 1016mb to 1024mb...doesn't sound like much change, but roughly 30.00 to 30.24, so definitely heavier air, and a pretty important variable. I always keep an eye on the surface analysis page on the NOAA-HPC site, especially if it's a multi-day event. |

Hmmmmm. Benjamin runs a 12.64.
Pop's best with the Deuce is 13.50. Sounds like the fork got stuck somewhere else. Great Fun M! Congrats to both of you.
