Expensive '69 L89 Corvette w/ Docs
Neat car with a nice pile of documentation, sold through Allen Green Chevrolet in WA. Great looking car.
Are these really $200k+ now? I realize the L88s are expensive but wasn't aware that the 435hp cars were creeping up too. Link to 1969 L89 Corvette auction |

----I guess you can't blame a guy for trying but this 69 is as you said massively overpriced. And, what exhaust do you get, headers or factory side pipes? I like the car, but would throw a rough guess that it's worth around $100,000 to $125,000, and that would be with stock exhaust and a really comprehensive detail. I'm not sure I like the broach marks either or the lack of smog equipment. But it is a rare car after all!

I don't think the 074 opened chambered aluminum heads were ever used on 1969 L89 corvettes. I believe only later L88 and ZL1s. I believe all 1969 L89 corvettes (even late ones) got the 842 casting closed chambered aluminum heads. That paperwork, in my opinion, is questionable and the stamp pad needs cleaned and closer examination. I would suggest if anyone is serious about the car (pay the fee) and have the shipper/tank sticker numbers sent to the NCRS to validate it. Not going to validate any of the cars options but it will tell you if that is the correct tank/shipper order numbers for the car. In my opinion, the car has way too much going for it, if you know what I mean. The car is way over priced even if everything checked out

Not sure a number 2 or 3 L89 is 100-125K..... that would make it a 200K car in show condition

I would argue that 074 were used on 69 L89s. I believe that 842 were the only aluminum head used on L89 corvettes in 1969 and the newest 69 NCRS judging guide does as well.

----Chuck,,, Comprehensive detail to me in this case means about $20,000 t0 $30,000 spent righting the obvious faults. Even if correct I don't think the value would get to those lofty heights. That's agreeing that we have an original drivetrain which is in doubt. There was a black on black L89 coupe at Mecum that was really slick two years ago and Terry bought it for far less. Ill stick with my value!......Bill S

It all depends what #1 car means. Ive never seen a #3 driver condition [based on the sellers description, not my opinion] car get transformed into a show stopper without repaint/interior/ and coming off the frame. . 20 to 30K in Connecticut means a down payment on the work !

The seller seems to be on a fishing expedition. I saw this car at $245,000 prior to the last auction ending, and prior to that the car was for sale at $165,000! I guess he thought it was not high enough? IMO there are very few C3's worth beyond $100,000 other than the L88's ZR2's and and ZL1's.
