Chevrolet SS wheel spare tire question

It looks original to me with the paint dot next to the weights and little sticker next to the production code. I see the DOT next to the paint dot. I'm not sure what year the DOT started but I seem to remember it starting earlier than I previously thought. 1968 or 1969? I'm certainly no tire expert but I would have bought it based on what I see. What is wrong with the tread pattern? Please educate me.

I believe Jeff Helms knows a good bit about old tires. Hopefully he will chime in. I'm voting its legit.
