It needs patches on the lower fenders and a good buff.the paint is cracking and showing its age though. It's not original paint, but was done before Tommy bought it in 1974.

Thanks! The car would need absolutely everything if it was restored, but it is a great period musclecar to drive just the way it is.

It has these lower traction bars on it. I've only seen a few pairs of these, and not sure who made them. When the axle wraps, it tightens up the U-bolt. I'll report back when I can pull a few holeshots and see how well they work.

I learned in another thread those above lower arms were made by MAS in Minnesota.

A few small updates... we rebuilt the brakes, replacing some lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder. We also added a fresh coat of orange paint on the drums.

We also rebuilt a carb, which is a 71 dated service carb for a Z16. It runs pretty good, but still have some tuning to do. After a few test miles, it now has a new oil-leak that I haven't gotten it back on the lift to locate yet. It should be just about roadworthy just in time to put it in storage for the winter.

Cale wanted to test fit the slots on his 55, so the 68 went into "sleeper mode" for a while with an extra set of wheels and tires I had sitting around. I like this look too, but those poor 205/75/14s will be pretty useless behind a BB and 4spd.

Before we can install a new interior, we needed to patch some rust in the floors. I turned Cale loose on this project while I continue to block sand on his '55.

We will also swap out the V-Gate shifter for an H-pattern, and patch up the floor hump.

We're hoping to get this finished up in the next week or so, and get back to driving it soon.

I hate cutting out old metal and trying to get reproduction stuff to fit right. Do him a favor and put a good dust mask on him. He'll appreciate it when he's older.

Cale is liable to have restoration shops offering him a job if they see this thread!

He already works part-time at one.. Derek and Cale put together a Chevelle Club cruise and tour a few weeks ago that included the shop Cale works at. VERY high end, hand fabrication of custom panel mods and floor pans for aftermarket chassis going on there. I think Cale has a future, if he decides to stay in the restoration business.
