1969 Yenko Camaro motor found...
I want to be the first to congratulate Mr. Shockley on getting his original motor back after 35 years MIA. Jim and I picked the block up on Thursday and it wasn't until today when I went over there to see him he showed me the original VIN on the block. We thought we were close but not 100% because of the numbers being light plus there was rust and paint that was covering the last of the numbers. Jim was extremely glad to see he has finally found the missing piece to his car, his wife said he spent the whole day on Friday looking at the motor. This is great and I am very happy for the Shockley's. Now we just have to get him better so he can be around with us for many years to come. Mark

I would like to thank Mark Smith & Mark Milchak for all their help in finding the motor for my car. To a car guy this is like finding the holy grail.Again I want to thank them if not for them I would never have found it.It pay's to have good friends.
Jim & Leila Shockley.

I'm probably not as happy as you are Jim but I still have a smile on my face... I'm just glad Mark and I did some fast foot work to get you in contact with the seller. It's kinda amazing that this all went down in less then a day of hearing of the motor and getting you and the seller together that Thursday night. I just wish I was there when you scraped the paint off the block to see the numbers... Your lucky you didn't have a heart attack... This couldn't have happened to a better family, the Shockleys are great people and I'm honored to call them my friends..

Re: 1969 Yenko Camaro motor found...
Jude, thats funny that you asked???? The number on Jim's block was 19N615034 with a casting of A9... This would have worked for you but it works better for Jim.. When the car came to St. Louis it came with its original motor. Sometime later it was replaced for some reason and the motor was separated from the car. Now 35 years later we heard of a 4 bolt main 512 block for sale and found out it was an early casting and my friend Mark Smith called me up and told me to go look at it and see what the VIN was. I did one better and called Jim and told him to meet me at my house and we would go and see the motor before the guy got wind that this could be Jim's old motor. So when we arrived at the sellers house we looked at the block and the two struck a deal. Jim and I both looked at the partial VIN on the block but we couldn't get past the "61" due to the repaint. I also think we were looking the wrong way considering the block read "19N61" but if you turn it upside down it reads the same. So we were looking the wrong way I guess, and also this was the same way on Saturday when Jim showed me the VIN again. We looked at the thing for about 5 min. before the VIN popped out at us very faintly. It was a great feeling to help Jim get this piece before it went into someone elses hands. Great story with a happy ending.
