I took one of the Zs out today...weather's finally getting decent! These are 15x6 Cragar G/T wheels from 1966 that I restored over the winter. Center caps were rechomed by Courtesy Metal Plating in Villa Park, IL, and none other than our own Bob G. detailed them!

I first saw a set of rough G/Ts at the Jefferson swap meet when I was 12. Finally came across a restorable set on Ebay and picked them up last year. These are composite construction (steel rim, Al center). Fit great on the car and clear the 4-piston calipers without a spacer.

This is a 27000 mile drag car that was fluffed in the mid-80s, so the tow tabs and Cragars are justified!

Yes you do... that is awesome... it would go great along side the Black 69 with the traction bars and the M/T ET streets.

Default Re: Vintage Wheels Restoration

I just picked up a set of old Appliance Torq Thrust D copies and some American 200S wheels. Both need some clean up/restoration. Any tips that anyone can share on finishes both for the spokes and the rim edge? I prefer to do this myself since most of the restorers I have seen polish the rim edge and this is not the way they were new. Also, the cost of shipping the rims for restoration from the east coast to the west coast and back is pretty costly these days. Thanks for any help.

I would also like some feedback on restoring original 1960s era Torq Thrusts. I have a set of 15x6 that need to be freshened up.

Here's my wheel resto guy's work and info. Doesn't like BSers or nickel-and-dime guys but if you are serious and don't BS or waste his time he will gladly help you.

My friend Terry Vaughan is a wheel restorer up in Burlington, WA. His specialty is '60s wheels, especially Torq-Thrusts, but he also works on newer wheels too. He is building a new website and I wanted to post it here.

I bought a set of old TTs from terry a few months ago and here is what he is capable of:

If you have anything to add as far as Terry's site is concerned you can e-mail him at: [email protected]
