I've had one of each in lucy blue with the M22, great driving cars and absolutely gorgeous. The 71 ran a little harder but I preferred the looks of the 72 due to the grill like Steve mentioned. I liked the grill so much better for 72 that I put them in my 71 too. If I could have either back I'd take the 71 since it originally had a factory cassette player mounted on the rear hump behind the console and blue custom interior.

Thanks Bruce and Bill for the kind words. I don't remember what state of restoration the car was in when you guys were here, but it's about all finished now. Going to buy another set of rear springs to set the back down a bit, and a few small details to wrap up.
I can't post pictures (probably have 500 alone of this restoration) but I can do the next best thing and link to videos I've shot for the owner as this restoration progressed. The entire build is geared towards a completely stock appearing car but the owner wanted more oomph. So I built the engine with internal changes, custom ground cam etc.. Made 507hp and 571tq through the stock exhaust manifolds. https://youtu.be/Hkm8ip0rmRE Just got the engine in the car https://youtu.be/AOqwz3QlO5k The owner wanted me to run the car through it's paces and shoot some video for him. Also has a custom 9.5 inch converter I'm trying from a new supplier that I wanted to make sure worked as intended. Plan is to take the car to the track next month and see how it runs, but this is primarily meant as a fun cruiser. Nicely optioned with am/fm 8 track, AC, PS and PDB, power windows, deluxe interior, honeycombs, all on the PHS, and a great color combo. https://youtu.be/Iesvy0R3isA |

Not to derail the derailment, but any decent spring company can de-arch the leaf pack to whatever ride height you want. I did that with my Grammas Car. Just told them to reduce the ride height by 1-3/4 inches and it was perfect. I also had to have a custom set of front coils made as well. All the current replacement stuff is crap for height - gives it a 4WD look and despite what they claim, the car never “settles” down.
I can give you the info of the leaf spring company I used in PA. |
