The tie strap fix is an interim fix until they come up with a permanent solution. As for the frame rot-yep, we've seen a few Tacomas with bad frames at the dealer I work for however Toyota has been paying 150% of book value to buy back the trucks (making current owners VERY happy) on trucks up to year 1999. On 2000-1 trucks they are replacing the frames (and the "kit" contains new suspension, fuel lines park brake cables etc etc)

Perhaps you are a loyal Toyota fan?

Am I supposed to take this as a slur?

I had a feeling this was coming judging by your location.

Take it any way you want to. My location doesn't have a thing to do with my feelings towards foriegn cars. I buy American cars. Always have, always will.

I buy whatever suits my needs, and I don't care where it's from.

That's a good one, a "new frame" kit.

That might be one of the reasons we are now at 9.8% unemployed.

If they make something that doesn't suit my needs, why should I buy it anyway?

That's right - blame the consumer.

My understanding is there was a plant built in Texas just to build the Tundra and Sequoia. Meanwhile, the Ford plant here is closing soon.

So which company is helping the unemployment problem and who is adding to it?

You just don't get it. The big three pay 35 to 50 per hr. The foreign plants pay 16 to 20 per hr. The profit is what you have to look at !! The reason they built the plants here, it was cheaper period... Had nothing to do with them liking us. We gave them tax discount and free ground. I sure they won't do the same over there for us.

I'll be sure to tell the 1000+ employees of the St.Paul Ford plant that they are helping Ford's "profits" while they are standing in the unemployment line.
