Cool and great you have comparables!
Specifically are we looking at gang stamping 19N576024 - a flatfooted 1 for Chevrolet faintly showing to the far left but not originally mentioned above? - the 9 missing at this level of scrutiny also perhaps a shorter length gang member? - the tail end of the N showing before the 5 that looks like a 1? The Van Nuys plant changed the Vin location a few times during the year and that location was typical for that plant during that time period.

i think we have determined that this is a norwood stamping. a january built van nuys car would have a much lower vin.

My 01B LA built Z28 has a Jan. 3rd assembled motor, vin by the oil filter, L517XXX vin. Both Camaro plants used the oil filter and front pad location for vin stamps during the Dec. '68 - Feb./Mar. '69 period. Either vin location can be original.
This 302 motor is a Norwood vin'd motor based on the vin #. Mark |

If you lighten the picture you can see it looks like L526024 which makes sense that the VIN stamping from VN would be up on the deck. The first "2" looks like a larger font which VN has been known to do.

The vin stamp is so messed up it must be an LA stamp! There are so many strange vin stamps from the LA plant, large 6's, 2's, etc. There are original Norwood vin stamps on the front pad into mid Jan. '69 so it is not only an LA plant occurrence.

Thanks for every one's help, so I'm assuming that it is a Dz 302.

Is it confirmed if it's an L or N yet?
Original DZ orphan from VIN 124379L576024 or VIN 124379N576024 ? ~ Pete
