You can also pick up a used 747 that is the same vintage as the camaro for the price of a fine ZL1. That and about 100 gallons of paint, you could put the Pan Am livery on the jet and duplicate history.

Does the woman, 2nd from the right, have a set of "Billy Bob" teeth in her mouth?

The suits managed it right into extinction, with help from "cost control" mania of the late '70s onward. (Post-deregulation.) All that service and glamor came at a cost. That had to be cut.

And now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Man Spends $50,000 to Recreate a First-Class Pan Am Cabin in his Garage!

Now all he needs is that ZL1 to complete his collection.

The litigation after the Lockerby bombing put the stake through their heart. There was a revival of the name Pan Am in the early 90's, lasted about 2 years.

I wonder if it smells like the inside of a well-traveled airliner?

That gal second from right HAS to be wearing gag teeth. No way Pan Am would hire a girl who had choppers like that. She could eat an apple through a tennis racket! Corn on the cob through a venetian blind! She was probably a real cut-up and lots of fun on layovers. Kept her gag teeth on hand to joke with the passengers or spook a$$-grabbing businessmen.

(Man, we hijacked the heck outta' this thread! Apologies to the OP.)
