In 1969, 5 ZL1 Camaros were stolen off the lot at Merollis Chevrolet, never recovered. It was either an insurance scam as the dealership realized they'd never sell them at 7 grand+ each or it was real chop shop stuff with thieves looking to cash in on the expensive drivetrain - the story varies. As mentioned above, I believe a couple of engines have surfaced
