Stanger I DID see quite a few nice classics that didn't go as high as I though. Early Mustangs and some baby Birds are a few.

The Baby Bird market has been down for the last couple of years - about 50% off. You can buy what used to cost $70K for $35K. The only model that still retains it's high value is the "F" code supercharged model and they made very few of them. One of the few collector cars that is not enjoying the super high prices of late.

Lot F 198 1965 Poppy Red Hi PO K Code Fastback brought $110,000 ! In 1987 i put that car together from a painted car with half of the interior in it. The engine was on a wooden crate . The Cobra oil pan , valve covers and tri power really made it stand out. I showed my wife the Mecum ad and she responded, That was the car you worked on in the garage and put Scott Jr. in his high chair in the garage when you worked on it at night. He was 2 then!

Thanks, I think there were a couple newer than '67 that needed major front structure replacement, but, apparently, that was too long ago to recall detail... ![]()

QUESTION for you guys:
Do you feel, on average, that Mecum and Bj get a higher quality of car then the norm that one would find "shopping"? I know that is sorta a vague statement as sure there are GREAT cars that sell without the help of these auction houses. Just thinking the average like these baby-'Birds or say 64.5-66 Mustangs.

AMEN to that, Rich! About the only place to find a car for sale by the actual owner is on collector car websites such as sYc, or word of mouth.
