To be honest, I was more curious about the big picture; the validity of the options rather than the car itself. First to verify what I had been told about chambered exhaust and 140 speedometer usage and second to confirm what I had researched regarding heater delete cars. As far as the heater delete issue, hey, I learned something new on that topic myself thanks to several of the people who responded (isn't that why we're here?). I'm still curious to learn what option code or in what manner the cars were designated as heater delete so that the assembly plant knew what to do.

I agree with you completely... I even said as much in my original post. This car isn't being represented as just a nice driver though; the wording in the ad is an indication of that. MATCHING NUMBERS this... ORIGINAL that... NOS... What about the statement TAKE THIS CAR TO ANY CONCOURSE SHOW AND TAKE HOME THE HARDWARE. I don't think there's a whole lot of doubt as to where the seller is going with this and I'm sure the reserve price is right up there too.

I still like the car regardless of the issues noted above.

Regards,

Stan

No more need to worry. The auction was ended early as they decided to keep the car. It seems as some people are getting goofy on alot of these auctions. The weather can change and they'll cancel the auction.

No doubt about actual heater delete cars in Hawaii. I have seen a lot of them. I looked at a 69 Convertible about 6 months ago with one. I have also seen quite a few Novas with them. Yes, I will let you guys know if I part any cars out with one. They are fairly common here.

My copy of this is not good, but it appears to say "6-13-69... RPO Cancelled"

It would appear that the radio delete was added along the way with the other popular additions/subtractions discussed. The ZL/2 hood relay is in the incorrect location. The wing nut holding down the air clearner is funny. The 140 speedo is questionable. Also look at the tires? Incorrect for a 69. Code 61 is a bad boy color. I would agree with Rat Pack that this is the old KC Spurlock car. I have only seen two other BB COPO Camaros. It seems to be a rare color on any Camaro. Its no problem to build it like you want it to look. But when it comes time to sell, I would think it should be pointed out that some of the items are added. Most people would not even care...BKH

Anyone know at what assembly plant the Hawaii Camaros were built with the heater delete? Any paperwork on these cars?
On the chambered exhaust system - in the Jerry MacNeish book it states that in early 69 the standard ex system for Z/28 L78 L89 & L34 was the chambered exhaust system. Due to noise complaints, this was discontinued on Nov. 28, 1968 as the standard system but was still available as optional equipment. The chambered exhaust system was deleted from production on May 19, 1969, as a result of standardization of chrome tail pipes.
