Don't forget that the '65 L-78 (396-425hp) was also installed in full size Chevrolets in '65. I recall seeing a production total once that was around (I believe) 2500.

TB is exactly right. My brother had a yellow one that would leave one black streek for about 300 yards! What was GM thinking??

Dennis Hyrdauic lifter engine was 375HP,and more socially acceptable for the New Chevelle.The solid was 425HP,& the Corvette always got the highest HP first....But not in 1970 Baby! I thought it was one prototype built in Baltimore then 200 built in KS.
I have heard rumor of a Z16 convertiable but never saw any evidence. I would think a picture of it would have been found if it was an internal GM car but who knows. A Z-16 Chevelle was one of the quickest stock engine cars ever made. It ran in the 8s with stock engine. It also had some type of liquid fuel turbine engine in the rear. I have an article on it somewhere. I think it was built by a co. called Turbotronics |
