That's what I was wondering. Interesting that Joiner still plans to go, after knowing that Lillard and Barker are gonna be there.

Don't Let the cops in OKLA catch you. I went to jail a few time back when I got caught by the cops driving at 15 1/2. Mother was pissed because she had to come down and get me and her car out of impound.

Seriously Do you think that is wise. I would be very suprised if the organizers would allow that?

In many states a 14 year old can drive on a "learning permit" as long as they are with a licensed driver 18 years old or older.

When my son was 14 he applied for and received a learning permit from the State of Iowa. The State of Iowa requires the applicant to pass both the written test and the vision test prior to receiving the learning permit. The purpose of the permit is to allow the student to "learn" to drive for two years before they would receive their license. This of course gives them a chance to learn all of their father or mother's bad driving habits.

This permit is valid in any state just like your driver's license. Each state will respect the authority of the issuer of the permit just as they do your driver's licence in another state.

Shortly after he received his permit, we went on vacation to Colorado and he helped me drive out there and back. We traveled through the states of Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Colorado.

You might check with the State of Texas Patrick. They may have a program just like this one. I know Missouri did when I was younger as I had a learning permit was I was much younger too. Of course I grew up on a farm and had been driving tractors and lime trucks, etc. in our farm fields since I was 8 years old.

This may explain my desire to drive through medians. Right D.C. & Annie?

JD,
Perhaps Mr. Murphy should have explained something to you about that Camaro. "NOT INTENDED FOR OFF-ROAD USE!"

Even assuming that there will be the occasional trip to the 1/4 mile track, that's still PAVEMENT! Still considered "ON THE ROAD." If those cars were intended to pull a plow there would have been a draw bar option. And the rear hatch isn't big enough to carry lime of any quantity to make it worthwhile. (Must be an Iowa thing.........No offense to Cap't Carl or Schonye.)

And BTW.......You were on State Property! At least in Illinois, we don't farm the medians. Jeez, maybe Nancy should take that thing away from you before you hurt someone! I'd think your 'relationship' with the local Law Enforcement might have taught you something.

I kept my mouth shut about this for fear of embarrasing you. I guess you just can't protect people from themselves!

Patrick,
Be careful what you ask for. Mr. Lillard let Barnhart drive a certain yellow car. No one in their right mind would do that! And for God's sake don't let your son in a car with Barker!!! Like JD said, it gives him a chance to learn bad driving habits; and few people have more bad driving habits than Barker!

Patrick,
I think your son should take at least one "TOUR OF DUTY" with the Barker's on the POWER TOUR. My daughter Amanda is graduating this year and she will be going with me. It was Julie's idea that each year the kids graduate that they go on the TOUR with me. It is a truly AWESOME time !!!!!!!!
