Ive seen a few of those missing the Z in the plate including my 3000 mile car. As for the rust around the plate,I think thats more common than you think. The plate is a different metal so it takes longer for it to rust. I think it real.

If this car is real and is in the condition that the owner has described then why hasn't someone snatched it up for the buy it now price of $10,500??? Sounds like a pretty good deal even without the original motor.

I have some pretty good ideas why it's not selling.

Rick H.

P.S. I would like to see one of those tags without the Z because I have never seen one without it.

Why do you think the reason is it has not sold?

(No I am not selling it or have any connection to it) I just want to learn what to look for ( I used to think I knew alot about these cars...now I am not so sure!!! )

First off he is not selling the car. What I mean his write up and description of the car in a word, sucks.

Mentions lots of factory paperwork but shows nothing. Show the paperwork that backs up the missing "Z" on the trim tag. Protective plate?? What's that? Come on show the warranty card! Show the VIN matches, show me, show me. Show the POP with the VIN and the CTB motor that matches close to the build date and the car is sold!

Show the items that make up the Z/28. Floor mounted gas pedal ( I see it but..), rear sway bar, etc. Especially where it is welded to the frame rail.

Nice freshly painted air cleaner but with the wrong lid. Shifter is wrong which would make me believe the tranny is wrong as well. He doesn't give numbers so who knows. Too many things wrong add up.

If he had described the car with all of the numbers, shown the paperwork and did a better job of selling I believe that car would have been snatched up within hours of posting.

The folks over at Nasty Z28 site have some great info on the trim tags...with and without the Z.

Not sure how desireable this is to you, but I just plucked this off of the Milan Dragway website.
