I love these articles too...maybe we can rummage thru Jim Mattisons garage some day. Wasn't that truck someone was referring to recently restore...a Futurama thing or something like that ? Maybe I'm a different truck...

Maybe I'm a different truck... [/ QUOTE ] The Futurama trucks thing was about the GM FUTURLINER coming up at the BJ auction. . It's one of 12 units built and toured GM and Worlds Fair exibits throughout US & Canada. . Although not built for the Futurama shows, a few dream cars rode in these....last years auction record car may have been one of them? . Should bring a few bucks....would be a nice way to transport those dream cars around? The National truck museum is putting finishing touches on their own restoration unit....a beautiful job and it should start popping up at shows and events soon. ~ Pete

Only V-12 I ever saw was in a huge ladder type fire truck in a scrap yard. Here's a nice picture of one.
V-12 PICTURE Two carbs, four valve covers, double distributor.

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks....great picture! . That's the one....I remember seeing them in early 60's trucks too as I was looking for the 348/409s. . I think they were the V6 motor parts sharing a common block....quite the crank I'd guess? . And sorry above....I should've refered to GM's "Motorama" shows as I think the Futuramas were Ford's try at a similar thing? . Anyone here old enough to have gone to a Motorama show? . Speaking of the dream cars, what's anyone's take on last years Dream Car auction record....is this just the Joe Bortz type guys keeping the value of these really high? ~ Pete

Those GM V12 motors....I never ran one but always heard they were a bad idea....double-trouble or whatever they were referred too....but kind've neat looking back at this era of GM? .
So nobody remembers the GM Experimental truck at the tracks? . Looked sort of like a bread-van, SWAT style truck and had Chevrolet Engineering or Experimental....maybe Chevy Research on the sides?? ~ Pete

There is a GM COPO 1967-1974 catalogue with all the truck stuff in it. It skips right over our COPO cars for some reason. When I bought the book I was sure I would find some information. Nothing.

I would think that the 427 CID COPO cars were skipped over in that book because of the GM ban on engines over 400 CID in mid-size cars that lasted until 1969. That COPO 427 program was probably kept rather quiet because it was in defiance of direct orders from high above. Even Joel Rosen didn't know about them back then.
