Clutch plate and cover are after market. Factory used a diaphragm style cover.

Very cool Ryan! Is there a ETA to get it running and driving?

November 23rd, I will start this process, as I get more familiar with the car I will know if spring 2016 is attainable?

You need to educate yourself with the Olds experts and what the cost involved will be in a rebuilt running drive train. If your intent is to race the car in Pure Stock Drags....I strongly urge you to rebuild the other engine - leave the CE block on a stand in the garage....for later use. If you hurt it, where are you going to find another?

Olds engine rebuild and parts are much more expensive than a Chevy. Do it right the first time.

I am torn as I don't want to spend money on parts not originally for the car, but as you mention, I would hate to "window" the W31 warranty block:-)

I am more focused on being able to drive it than Race it. One idea I have is to prepare the warranty engine and if I decide to go PSMCDR racing maybe build the extra engine and transmission to risk in future.

How far away from being made operable is the 'extra' engine?
As much as I understood from Al, this engine was supposed to be Ok so is it worth reassembling/made operable at low cost for now then put the real $ into the original warranty replacement #'s engine?
And what Pilot bearing is in either motor...both roller bearings?

If not done correctly - you can damage (Window) either engine - same damage can occur on the street or at the drags :-(

*VERY IMPORTANT* - talk to the OLDs guys - pick their brains, learn from their mistakes :-)
Do it Right.

That is another idea, to just fire up the used engine in it as is...(I prefer the idea of rebuilding it to ensure it is reliable)

I am not sure of the pilot bearings in either engine?

I understand your comment Dan....I will get the word! I do really want that real W31 motor in the car....
