That damn old fart has been around forever....I remember him running a S/G Firebird at the Grove all the time. He may just know a thing or two about chassis set-up. Although Gillig and Orlowski always smoked him at the tree !!! J/K Jody...those were good days going up there every damn week to check it out with my cuz Dom. Now the nut is part owner of the darn place..guess you never get it out of your blood.

Don't mess with old farts - age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill! Bullshit and brilliance only come with age and experience.

So this would make 4 options....4 speed tranny, F40 HD suspension , tinted front windshield and push button radio.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually 5 options....the L79 engine itself was an option....the 2 bbl 283 would have been the standard engine on an 8 cylinder Nova.

You're right, Bill. Missed the big option that makes it what it is. The L79 engine was a 198.00 option. The 4 speed added another $184.00. These were big dollar options for a Chevy II in 1966, especially when you consider the low cost of other extras...like upgrading to the F40 HD suspension for $4.95!!

Now, from the really anal Chevy II L79 department, the air cleaner lid should be rotated 180 degrees. If you check the indentations on the top, you'll find there isn't one over one of the snorkels (some of the repop makers didn't notice this and put them all the way around). This side of the lid should face the drivers side. Don't ask me why there is an indentation missing or who decided which side it should face, because I don't know. I think an original 1966 factory photo showed it this way, so that must be correct, right? Lots of guys just put the best looking side of the lid to the front, which is just fine, too.
Bob

These air cleaners had a seam in each snorkel and I believe for best appearance this side should be pointing to the fire wall. However, some of these tops got out the door with the seam on opposite sides and it appears this one might be that way but I can't tell for sure from the pictures.

Great looking car and the ultimate sleeper!

Great looking car. My favorite body style. Hope to see it in person someday. Maybe Lombard.
