All good suggestions and I appreciate them very much. I'm aware of the risk of a slippery aluminum floor. I experienced that when I crewed for Ronnie Evans with his trailer. On the trailer I missed, it still had 6'6" inside height because he had the whole thing raised. I've never seen a ramp like this one, so maybe he had that modified too.
![]() I'm ok with pulling over 10Klbs. I recently picked up a used Silverado 3500 dully with all the towing extra features. And Rick, I did plan on putting down a couple 2x12s if necessary. The idea of having more room under the car to attach the straps is great. My cars don't sit that high off the ground. Also, Charley, thanks for the idea of cord rather than cable for the winch. IF that cable snaps and anyone is near it, they could lose a foot! I was warned about that when we loaded Ronnie's '62. You all have been very helpful. |

Yes, the trailer will sit outside so a rounded roof is desired. I like the idea of a roof vent though to help pull the hot air out of it in the pits. Hope the seal is a good one. I plan to put down an area of crushed stone to park it on. I'm hoping that will be a lot better than parking right over the ground. And a spare tire is a "must have".

I like that ramp threshold. I'm going to do something like that with mine. No way on the stainless ramp though. I like my bones in one piece. I'm not as agile as I once was. ![]()

That synthetic rope is a great idea...never saw one before until last Saturday when Bruce came to get the red Nova. I also have used trailers with internal ramps to raise the car up...it is another simple addition that really helps. wilma

May I add that I changed my Pace American (see post above) from D to E Rated TOWMAX Tires that have a max inflated 80# PSI.
A very large western Tire Retailer Les Schwab claims to have had little come back with the TOWMAX brand. I will admit that my trailer hasnt been used much and I cant personally vouch for the above tires

The siding delaminated. The manufacturer picked it up, put on an entire new side and delivered it back. I think your issue should also be corrected by Pace. My neighbor's trailer was also out of warranty but they still fixed it. It's worth a try. Verne |

Verne, My trailer was mfg in 2004 I think and surely out of any warranty ?????
I heard that PACE AMERICAN went out of business !!!!!! The outside skin is fine where it is overlapped and bonded/glued. My problem is very small RUST pockets that appear to be coming from backside. Hard to explain........so I suppose I need to take pics and get them online!!!!!

Chuck,
I just had an email today from a local dealer who said they could price a new Pace for me. Look at the Pace web site and the Cargo Express web site and notice the similarity in the layout and the specs. I think they are either owned by the same parent company or they merged. I understand your description of the problem. A seal at the top must have let water in. Maybe you can just repair the visible rust and re-caulk the upper trim. Verne The screwless siding may look high class, but I trust screws more than glue. IF I order a new one, I'll just ask for SS screws. |

I have screwless Featherlite and a another and no problems. I would do screwless as the 3m glue is probably stronger than the screws.
