This early of a build I believe should still be a short spoiler, and I don't see the corner support brackets on the front spoiler. Decal in the door jamb is gone.
Still doesn't take anything away from the car, very cool, I like it.
He said that the car had been painted once and cowl induction hood had been added at that time.

He told Cook it was original paint. I believe some aspects of it are, like the cowl, but the car in general has been painted.

He's wrong about his reasoning as to why he believes the hood was added. It very well could have been equipped with it. 01B car, the hood was in production a couple weeks prior. Would need to look at the car closer. However, with that said, majority of Z's were in fact flat hood cars anyway.

I'm not buying his explanation for the stripe either. The car is too early to have a wide spoiler, it's been added. It's also missing the support bars on the front chin spoiler that so many people never add when putting spoilers on. I'm betting it has standard torsion rods in the trunk. Dealer added.....maybe, but the stripes weren't done that way at the factory on a "real" spoiler car.

I wasn't knocking the car, I like it, they're all cool. I'm not a fan of picking on someone's car and feel that's bad taste. I was more or less knocking the informant and the information that he was relaying, some of the stuff he mentioned was not exactly correct.

Right. Two different genres there. Cars hiding in plain sight are way more compelling to me because it takes an expert to make the connection.

Couldn't agree more on the term "barn finds" having been overused and completely exhausted. Jerry Heasley writes for MCR and I think he uses that phrase on every single car that is discovered now days

And what's with the staged video's that keep being made with every garage door that opens these days. It's like everyone wants to be part of a television gig on the History Channel. This poorly produced video is a perfect example of why they should stick to photographs.

"Decal in the door jamb is gone."

No VIN decal until August 69, and even the first few in August may not have them.
So, and early car would not have received the decal. Doors didn't even get the two locating ribs for the decal until June or so.

Agree with others, there is nothing of significance to this car being "found". The "seized" aspect does nothing for value.

I was going to mention it's too early to have had a blue VIN label in the door also, but figured PGN would accuse me of bashing the car.

There is a '70 Chevelle, Astro blue, black stripes, and a '69 Z/28, Daytona yellow within 1 mile of my house. I have only seen the rears of both of them because as far as I know, neither has moved for the 14 years I have lived in this neighborhood. Maybe I can discover them!

I have spoken to the owner of the Z/28 and he is doing the "I would sell it if the price is right, but you know what they are worth at Barrett Jackson" thing, and I dropped a nice note in the Chevelle's mailbox - no response.

Yeah, Cook sent me a PM and explained the original paint deal. It all makes me wish I had Wonder Woman's magic lasso to put around guys like this so that you could get the truth out of them.
