lol...I was 5 in 1970

But grew up hearing the phrase Deuce from guys born in the 50's who were always referring to built up Nova's on the street. Saw lot's of Chevy II's in Winnipeg's street scene too, but it was loosely used on both tags.

This is hilarious BTW!! I was like 2 in 1970, and began driving in 1985 - FWIW, my local scene never, ever, referred to any of year of Nova as a 'Deuce'. Sounds like it was a regional thing....

So, the Nova being badged as both a Nova and a Chevy II goes back to the 1st generation, and the Chevy II identifier is indeed from being the off shoot of the older and larger Impala line. Some folks believe that '68 was the 'only' year that the Nova was dually badged, but that is not the case, it is simply the last year for that practice. Yenko keyed off the Chevy II moniker when he coined the Yenko Deuce package, and then keyed off of that when he coined the Yenko Ace package for 1971....

The USAF Convair F-102 Delta Dagger interceptor was also nicknamed the "Deuce."

There are members here who like to use "slang" to describe things. A few examples:

GUT: - the interior of a car.

VERT: - short for convertible

DEUCE: Chevy II/Nova

Might be interesting to see what kind of responses you get here if someone posts the question. Facebook GenI Chevy Deuce 1962-65

I love my Nova but when somebody calls their car a Deuce I am thinking of a
32 Ford coupe.
