Default Re: color code for drive shaft

I am glad I posted the picture now. There does seem to be a brown stripe there, guess I did not consider that on first inspection.
On this car everything on the undercarriage had been "chassis blacked". The only way I even suspected that there were stripes there is because there was a smooth spot that had not been effected by rust.
So, I got out the 600 and started wet sanding, The best I could do was what you see in the picture.

Quote: Did you sand it or did you use a non solvent based cleaner? I used a wax and grease remover and they popped right up. Most of the marks I have found to be within the first two feet of the trans yoke. Except on my 71 pg 307.

I used a degreaser solvent and some steel wool.. maybe I am missing something or just can't quite find them or they are too light now to see.. Who knows?? I would like to duplicate them if I know the right color coding..

[/ QUOTE ]OH NO! That might be why you havent found them. Someone could have sanded them off already. All the driveshafts that I have, have not been painted. You know what you are supposed to do before you apply fresh paint don't you? Yep, sand it. So, you might have try and duplicate it from another person's car. But keep trying. They might be there somewhere.

Hi all. I am resurrecting this thread again. I have a 69 L78 4 speed (m21) nova (built Nov 68). Can anyone tell me what color my drive shaft stripes would have been? Thanks.

I am looking for photos, but can't seem to find them at the moment. I believe BB Benny's 69 Nova driveshaft had the correct stripes applied during the resto...perhaps he can post a photo, or it may be linked to his for sale ad.
