Default Re: realistic price for 70 Z-28

Some values have been posted on some top of the line cars but what about some lower condition 70 Z's. As I asked above what about a 1970 Z/28 with solid body and complete interior but missing the motor and tranny would be worth? Car is solid but needs restoring. I.E. paint, interior work, etc..

Lets go to the lower end of the curve.

Hmmm so what would you think a 1970 Z/28 with solid body and complete interior but missing the motor and tranny would be worth? Car is solid but needs restoring. In your opinion. I am being serious and find this topic interesting.

Rick, honestly I don't know.

I was specifically looking for a correctly done car. After a while I realized that was going to be next to impossible at any price so I started looking for something that was pretty close but might need minor work. Thats why I damn near cried when I missed Jack's car the 1st time and why I was bound and determined not to miss it twice

From what I've seen though, if you mean NO motor/trans then probably dirt cheap. Like under 10K. Maybe way under? If you mean wrong motor/trans then obviously more. I know one thing. Finding a car like that isn't hard. Obviously people haven't been restoring 70's the way they have 69's. At least not yet.

Tom,
Are you talking about the Z Jack had at Carlisle this year? You bought that one?

I have the correct 110 intake, dist, carb, voltage regulator and a few other correct parts. I have a line on the dreaded damn 837 alternator but the guy wants ridiculous money for it. Collecting parts but not sure I want to do a correct restoration when I have my heart set on a day 2 theme.

Maybe I should just sell the damn thing and save myself the aggravation. Hmmm.

A year ago I bid on a 1970 Z28 project. It was all original (motor, trans, rear) but needed some new metal. 2 rear quarters and a deck lid. Had p-o-p and owner history and maybe some build sheets yet to be found. Cool color combo, Camaro Gold on black (no console M-21) with black stripes. Dash wood grain, custom seats, custom seat belts too, am/fm, p/s, p/b, remote mirror. I stopped bidding after $8,500. The car needed everything even the smog equit. After I priced out a lot of parts (with the help of you guys) I figured I was digging too deep. Whopps!

Place that car in 2005... How much does it go for?
High teens? Low twenties?

Is someone thinking of selling an Orange one? It is one of the best I have seen in a long time.

You could probably buy it for around 15k.

Heres a scenario.

Car decent shape no motor no tranny 6k
correct (nom) engine and access. 8k
correct trans. and access. 1k
paint and body 8k
chrome and trim 3k
interior 2k
I'm already at 28k on this list, and there is way more that would have to be added ie:,suspension, brakes, fuel, electrical, weatherstrip ping, assembly labor...

I know my carb cost me 600.00,a correct functioning diverter valve 440.00, torque convertor 450.00.. etc etc.
